ADU Types

An accessory dwelling unit (ADU) is a smaller, independent residential dwelling unit located on the same lot. Based on the location or relationship with the main home ADU can be classified in X main categories:

  • Detached: built in as a complete separate unit from the main home.
  • Attached: built in sharing at least a wall with the main property.
  • Over the garage / Garage conversion :
  • Interior: A Portion of the existing home can be converted buiding new entrances, divisory walls, (e.g. the Attic or basement of the main home.)
